Meteors top Lions

The Montrose boys’ basketball team grabbed a 63-44 victory over Lackawanna Trail at home on Tuesday night.

The Lions fell behind early with the Meteors outscoring them 20-15 in the first quarter. The Meteors then held a 33-28 lead by halftime.

In the second half, the Meteors led the Lions, 11-9, and then capped off the game pacing Trail, 19-7, in the fourth.

The Meteors were led by Cameron Dean with 21 points while Brenton Warner and Erik Burgh each scored nine.

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge basketball team grabbed a 52-43 victory over Susquehanna at home on Tuesday.

The Raiders took a 16-7 lead after the first half and despite a 17-11 run from the Sabers in the second, held on to a 27-24 lead at the half.

In the third quarter both teams scored 14 and Blue Ridge used an 11-5 run in the fourth to cap the victory.

Sawyer Dearborn paced the Raiders with a game-high 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Mike Gathany had nine rebounds and scored 10 points while TJ Loomis chipped in six points.

Cole Mallery led Susquehanna with 24 points and Andrzej Tomczyk scored 10.

Mountain View

Mountain View’s boys’ basketball team grabbed a 55-38 victory over Pocono Mountain Charter at home on Thursday after the Eagles handed Forest City a 60-39 loss at home on Tuesday night.

Against Pocono Charter, the Eagles took a 19-2 lead after the first half and held a 34-17 advantage by halftime.

In the second half, Mountain View was outscored 8-7 in the third, but capped the victory with a 14-13 fourth quarter.

Chad Wescott led the team with 18 points, including four three-pointers, while Brett Crowley had 12.

On Tuesday, the Eagles got ahead early, leading the Foresters 16-13 after the first and held a 27-21 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the Eagles paced the Foresters 15-5 in the third and capped the win with an 18-13 fourth quarter.

Derek Bradley scored a game-high 21 points and was 10 for 14 shooting. He also added 12 rebounds and three assists.

Brett Crowley added 11 points for the Eagles and Nate Schermerhorn chipped in nine.

Matt Nevins led Forest City with 16 points while Jesse Korty and Mitchell Blake each had six.

Elk Lake

The Elk Lake boys’ basketball team faced a 51-44 loss from Mid Valley on the road on Tuesday evening.

In the Division III-IV crossover, the Warriors led the Spartans 11-9 after the first quarter, but soon fell behind as Mid Valley used a big second quarter to lead Elk Lake 26-19 by halftime.

In the third, Mid Valley edged the Warriors 12-11 and despite a 14-point fourth from the Warriors, the Spartans took the win.

Tanner Reyan scored 15 points and Matt Woolcock had 13 for the Warriors while Rob Heft added six.

Forest City

The Forest City boys’ basketball team faced a 91-40 loss to Lakeland on the road on Thursday.

The Foresters were outscored 23-5 in the first and 23-12 in the second to trail the Chiefs 46-17 at halftime.

In the second half, Lakeland paced the Foresters 22-15 in the third and 23-8 in the fourth to seal the win.

Vince DeLucy led Forest City with 13 points while Matt Nevins had 11.
