The Mountain View softball team took a 6-5 victory over Elk Lake in the Lackawanna League Division IV season opener at Dimock on Friday.
The Warriors fell behind in the second with Mountain View scoring a run.
Elk Lake answered back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead.
Elk Lake then increased its lead to 3-1 with a run in the fourth.
However, Mountain View muscled its way to a 5-3 lead with four runs in the fifth inning.
The Eagles added another run in the seventh and despite a two-run rally from Elk Lake in the bottom of the seventh, the Eagles took the win.
Megan Stenzhorn had two hits, including a solo homer, and Sarah Nichols went three-for-three to lead the Eagles.
Caity Tague took the pitching win giving up seven hits, four earned runs and two walks while striking out five in a complete game outing.
Megan Getz also tripled for the Eagles.
Faith Kwiatkowski had a single and drove in two runs for the Warriors while Casey Tyler had a pair of singles and a RBI.
Susquehanna
The Susquehanna softball team faced a 5-4 loss to Lackawanna Trail on the road Thursday in the team’s Division IV opener.
The Sabers came back from a two-run deficit to tie the game with a pair of runs in the top of the third to make it 2-2.
The Sabers again tied the game up with two more runs in the top of the seventh to make it 4-4.
However, the Lions scored on a sacrifice fly with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to take the win.
Mashawna Hargett doubled and drove in a run for Susquehanna while Danielle Barnes tripled.
Micaela Rhone took the pitching loss giving up five hits, four earned runs and nine walks with four strikeouts in six and two-thirds innings.
