Ely gets 2nd AOW nod Westchester

West Chester University sophomore Dallas Ely of Montrose was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference’s Eastern Division athlete of the week for women’s basketball it was announced Monday afternoon.

It marks the second time this season that Ely has been named the loop’s athlete of the week. She was a co-winner of the weekly honor back on Dec. 9, along with Kutztown’s Advia Campbell.

Ely averaged 22 points per game in PSAC crossover play last week. The Northeastern PA native scored 25 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and was credited with five steals in a 78-73 win over Mercyhurst last Friday afternoon. She went 5-for-10 from beyond the three-point arc, including 3-of-4 in the second half.

She scored a team-best 19 points in a loss to No. 2 and undefeated Gannon on Saturday. She was 5-for-5 from three-point range in the first half. With 10 steals last week, Ely ranks third in the conference in steals per game with 2.8.

The sophomore guard is currently second in the PSAC in scoring, averaging 20.3 points per game. She has scored at least 20 points in six of her last eight games.

West Chester heads to Clarion University on Wednesday for its final non-conference tilt of the season. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
