Police investigating possible impersonator

A woman traveling on Interstate 81 reported that she believed she was pulled over on the morning of June 17 by someone impersonating a police officer.

According to police, the woman said she had been traveling south on I-81 when she was subjected to a traffic stop for speeding.

The man, reportedly dressed in a tan suit, displayed an unknown badge and did not identify himself or his department.

He was described as being approximately 5’7” tall, and 140-150 lbs.

According to the report, the man was driving an older tan Cadillac or Crown Victoria equipped with red and blue flashing lights mounted on the dash of the vehicle.

The woman reported the man took her license and registration to his vehicle for less than a minute before returning and advising her that he was giving her a verbal warning.

According to the report, the man said he would run her license later and mail her a citation if he found any issues.

Pennsylvania State Police, Gibson, are looking for anyone who may have witnessed this incident that occurred 8:30-9:30 a.m. Witnesses are asked to call PSP, Gibson, at 570-465-3154 and reference case number 2016-328707.
