Cabot, Dimock families settle lawsuit

Earlier this year, a judge threw out a $4.2 million jury award to Dimock Township families who alleged their water was contaminated by nearby natural gas drilling.
Last week, the decade long dispute between Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation and the Ely and Hubert families was quietly settled in Middle District Court.
In an order, handed down Sept. 21 by Magistrate Judge Martin Carlson, stated the case “has been amicably resolved by the parties” and that the action was dismissed so long as the settlement agreement is adhered to within 60 days.
Details of the settlement were not given.
Cabot spokesman George Stark said, “The case has been settled. The matter is now closed.”
