SAL 357 treats shelter dogs

BY STACI WILSON

Sons of the American Legion Post 357 in Hallstead donated a large box of dog treats to True Friends Animal Welfare Center last week. The treats were leftover from the SAL’s July 4 food table set up at the PA Welcome Center, and had been donated to them by Thunder Valley Pet Supplies.

SAL 357 Commander Randy Hankins said that in addition to offering up hot dogs and other treats to holiday travelers, the members also chose to have treats available for dogs at the rest stop.

The owner of Thunder Valley asked that the SAL donate the remaining treats instead of returning them to the store.

True Friends Director Dory Browning said the shelter was grateful for the treats and the SAL’s help in spoiling the dogs. “We always try to make it more like home, and this will help,” she said.

In addition to the treats, the SAL also donated a large bag of dog food.
