Hospice of the Sacred Heart now in county

Hospice of the Sacred Heart was welcomed to Susquehanna County with a reception held at the Community Foundation building on Thursday, June 24.

Foundation Chairman Earle Wootton, his wife June and Foundation President Peter Quigg along with a friend of Sacred Heart Donna Cosmello, Chief Executive Officer Diane Baldi and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ralph DeMario arranged for and hosted the reception. Information on the hospice service was available for the over 100 of the county health care providers, Area Aging presonnel, the banking community, members of the Community Foundation board of directors attending. Elected officials available to attend were State Senator Lisa Baker, State Representative Sandra Major and County Commissioner Michael Giangrieco.
With headquarters in Wilkes-Barre, Hospice of the Sacred Heart services residents in Luzerne, Lackawanna, and other adjoining couties with support as they transition through the health care system. Sacred heart employees and volunteers always respect the patients need for comfort, care, hope and a choice to remain in their own home under supervision of their private physician, a spokesman said. At the present time there are two Susquehanna County Sacred Heart employees, who along with the full staff and volunteers, are ready to accept patients locally.
