The 76th Elk Lake Regatta and Swimming Meet was held Saturday, August 7, at Big Elk Lake.
Forty-six children, ages six months to 17, participated in swimming races as well as diving, inner tube, canoe and rowboat events.
The winners in each class were as follows.
In the Guppy class (age 2 and under) Eva Shen came in first and Peter Bertsch in second.
The winners in the Pollywog class (ages 3 and 4) were Kyle Antinnes in first, Matthew Antinnes and Maryrose Bertsch in second, and Zaida Moore in third.
The winners in the 5-year-old Minnow class were Haley Pompey in first, Jake Nocera in second, and Alex Warriner in third.
The winners in the 6-year-old Minnow class were Lucas Bartron in first, Laila Moore in second, and Sander Bertsch in third.
The winners in the Tapdpole class (ages 7 and 8) were Emma Wynne in first, Nicholas Warriner in second, and Macey Schillinger and Luke Antinnes in third.
The winners in the Frog class (ages 9 and 10) were Dawson Wynne in first, Courtney Russell in second, and Max Bartron in third.
The winners in the Junior class (age 11) were Erin Goetzke in first, Joey Nocera in second, and William Arnold in third.
The winners in the Intermediate class (ages 12 and 13) were Travis Birchard in first and John Rudzanski in second.
The winners in the Senior Girls class (ages 14 and up) were Morgan Owens in first, Chesley Owens in second, and Lindsay Warriner in third.
The winners in the Senior Boys class (ages 14 and up) were Dillon Rolnick in first, Patrick Goetzke in second, and Michael Irvine in third.
The Watermelon Polo champions were the team called the Elk Lake Regatters, captained by John Shaw. The Regatters won 1-0 in overtime. This year’s Sportsmanship Award went to Willie Rudzanski and the coveted Yost Trophy (for most points) went to Dillon Rolnick. This year participants came from as far as Mississippi, Florida, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Some lake families are enjoying their third generation of racers in this annual event.
