Erdmann hits 1,000 mark

Forest City’s Cassie Erdmann scored the 1,000th point of her career in a 41-40 loss to Dunmore at home on Monday night.

After being charged with her fourth foul, Erdmann eclipsed the mark with 58 seconds remaining in the tight game.

“It’s a great feeling,” Erdmann said. “It’s such a big milestone. I would have never been able to do it without my teammates, and the great support of my family, friends and the fans.”

Erdmann led the Lady Foresters with 14 points while Katie Yale added 13 points.

“Since Dunmore is such a great team, even though we lost, this will give us some confidence going into the second half of the season,” Erdmann said.

Also last week, Forest City faced a 42-37 loss from North Pocono on the road Saturday after it defeated Blue Ridge 59-23 in a game played in New Milford on Thursday night.

Against North Pocono the Lady Foresters fell behind 12-10 after the first quarter but went into halftime tied at 18 apiece after pacing the Trojans 8-6 in the second.

In the third quarter, North Pocono took an 11-10 advantage and then capped off the win over the Foresters with a 13-9 fourth.

Katie Yale scored 11 points and Cassie and Carly Erdmann each had 10 for Forest City. 

On Thursday, The Foresters outscored Blue Ridge 18-7 in the first quarter and 22-6 in the second to hold a 40-13 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Forest City led the way 9-2 in the third and 10-8 in the fourth to complete the victory over Blue Ridge.

The Foresters were paced by Carly Erdmann with 16 points while Cassie Erdmann and Yale each scored 12.

Jacquelyn Furch led Blue Ridge with 11 points while Jessica Rupakus dropped in six and Kristen Brown had four.

Montrose

Montrose Area’s girls’ basketball team took a 59-34 home victory over Lakeland on Wednesday night.

The Meteors took an early 15-3 advantage over the Chiefs, before outscoring them 12-9 in the second quarter to hold a 27-12 lead at halftime.

After the half, Montrose paced the Chiefs 17-14 in the third and capped off the win going 15-8 over Lakeland in the fourth.

Montrose was led by Dallas Ely with 17 points while Sam Abbott added 11 points and Amelia DiPhillips had 10 for the Lady Meteors.

Mountain View

The Elk Lake girls’ basketball team was handed a 48-37 loss from Mountain View’s Eagles on the road on Thursday.

Elk Lake started strong, outscoring Mountain View 12-9 in the first quarter before the Eagles would pace the Warriors 15-11 in the second to hold a 24-23 lead at the half.

After halftime, Mountain View paced Elk Lake 9-6 in the third and then 15-8 in the fourth to take home the victory.

The Eagles were paced by Kayla Kazmierski with a double-double with 19 points and 21 rebounds while Alex Lynn added 12 points.

Elk Lake was led by Taylor Watkins with 11 points while Kenzi Moon had nine and Mazie Tyler chipped in seven.

Susquehanna

The Susquehanna Saber girls’ basketball team faced a 61-20 loss from Lackawanna Trail in a home game on Wednesday evening.

In the first quarter, Trail got ahead going 22-2 over the Sabers, and then outscored Susquehanna 12-6 in the second to hold a 34-8 lead at half.

After halftime, Trail outscored Susquehanna 17-6 in the third and then finished off the Sabers with a 10-6 run in the fourth.

Susquehanna was led by Mashawna Hargett with eight points, while Ellen Carmody chipped in four.
