Lady Raiders swamp Sabers

The Blue Ridge girls’ basketball team grabbed a 51-36 victory over Susquehanna at Carbondale on Friday in a first-round District II Class A playoff game.

Blue Ridge took an early lead with a 14-8 run in the first quarter, and after Susquehanna paced Blue Ridge 16-15 in the second, the Raiders held a 29-24 lead at halftime.

After halftime, Blue Ridge paced Susquehanna 8-7 in the third and capped off the victory with a 14-5 run in the fourth.

Kristen Brown scored a game-high 21 points for Blue Ridge while Ashley Warren added 12 points and Jenna Rupakus had 11.

For Susquehanna, Amber Dubanowitz led the way with 14 points while Mashawna Hargett scored 12.

Blue Ridge goes on to play Forest City tonight at North Pocono at 6 p.m. in the semi-final game.
