Maby carries Sabers over FC

Susquehanna’s Tom Maby hit a grand slam as part of Susquehanna’s 10-run first inning in a 13-3 win over Forest City in five innings on Wednesday in a Division III matchup.

Maby was the winning pitcher, went the distance and allowed three runs on five hits with seven strikeouts for the Sabers.

Saber Vincent Matta had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs and Maby, Nick Marco and Jared Lawson had two hits each.

Forest City had a single run in the first, one in the fourth and another in the fifth as the Sabers piled on the runs.

Logan Fitzsimmons had a single and an RBI and also took the pitching loss giving up one hit, one earned run and a walk in one inning on the mound.

Montrose

The Montrose Area baseball team faced a 5-1 loss at home on Thursday afternoon from Lackawanna Trail.

Montrose scored its only run in the bottom of the second before they were upended by a five-run barrage from the Lions in the fourth inning.

Mike Rapisardi had a double for the Meteors as Dylan Hackett took the pitching loss giving up four hits, four earned runs and four walks while striking out five.

Hackett also had a single and a run scored for the Meteors.

Elk Lake

The Elk Lake baseball team handed the Blue Ridge Raiders an 8-0 loss in a game at Dimock on Thursday evening.

Holden Lunger tossed a five-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts and also had two hits and three RBIs for the Warriors.

The Warriors scored five runs in the first, two in the second and one in the fifth to combine on 11 hits for eight runs.

Matt Horvath and Nick Dudock each drove in a pair of runs for the Warriors.

Adam Gordon had a pair of hits for the Raiders while Jared Zawicki took the pitching loss giving up six hits, seven earned runs and three walks while striking out two during one inning on the mound.

Mountain View

Mountain View’s baseball team handed Susquehanna an 11-1 loss during a home game on Thursday evening.

Mountain View got things started with a pair of runs in the second before scoring one in the fourth, three in the fifth and five in the sixth as the Sabers brought home one runner in the sixth.

Julian Williams, Greg Adams and Dylan Thomas all doubled in the six inning win while Adams added a triple three runs scored and two RBIs.

Compton was the winning pitcher giving up one hit, one earned run and two walks while striking out 14 in the victory.

Lawson had Susquehanna’s only hit of the day, while Tom Maby had an RBI. Vince Matta took the mound loss giving up 10 hits, nine earned runs and four walks while striking out two in five and two-thirds innings.

Forest City

The Forest City baseball team took a pair of losses from Western Wayne on the road on Thursday evening in a double-header.

The Foresters lost the first game 14-2 as Zach Mendoza took the pitching loss giving up four hits, seven earned runs and five walks in one and a third innings on the mound.

Mendoza had a double on offense while Jensen and Zimmerman each added singles for the Foresters.

In the second game, a 12-6 loss, Nebzydoski took the pitching loss giving up 14 hits, eight earned runs and three walks with one strikeout in five innings.

Nebzydoski added a pair of singles while Jensen had a hit, an RBI and three runs scored.
