Montrose Legion goes 0-3 on week

The Montrose Senior Legion baseball team took a pair of losses on Saturday against West Scranton, 4-0, and Jersey Shore, 6-0, after it was handed a 9-4 loss from West Scranton on the road on Tuesday evening.

Facing West on Saturday, Montrose was put behind 3-0 in the first inning before West would add a fourth run in the fourth while holding Montrose scoreless.

Holden Lunger took the pitching loss giving up two hits, two earned runs and six walks while striking out six in six innings on the mound.

Montrose had hits from Lunger, TJ Loomis and Michael Hackett.

Against Jersey Shore, Montrose was put at a 6-0 in the fourth inning before Jersey Shore added an insurance run in the top of the seventh.

Jimmy Churco was the losing pitcher as he gave up six hits, five earned runs and five walks while striking out five in four innings in the mound.

The Montrose team picked up hits from Peter Hartman, Michael Rapisardi and Dan Simonds.

On Tuesday, Montrose got ahead first with a four-run third inning, but West answered back with five runs in the third and four in the fourth to take the 9-4 victory.

Rapisardi led the Meteors with a hit and two RBIs while Holden Lunger and Hackett each had a pair of hits an RBI and a run scored.

Lunger took the pitching loss, giving up two hits, five earned runs and four walks in two and two-thirds innings on the mound while striking out four.
