There are more than 1,000 wins connecting one Hall of Fame family and a future Hall of Famer, both of whom have connected to hit a home run for the Coaches vs. Cancer raffle on Jan. 28.

Janis Vollkommer, daughter of coaching legend Julius Prezelski Sr., just happens to have a son who plays ball on the same Little League team inGeorgiaas former Atlanta Braves standout Tom Glavine. Janis asked, and Glavine was kind enough to oblige with an autographed ball for this year’s raffle.

Glavine has 305 career pitching victories and is a lock for induction in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Prezelski, a member of numerous Hall of Fames andPennsylvania’s winningest boys basketball coach when he retired in 1993, has 757 victories.

With the basketball season now more than one-third in the books, the Coaches vs. Cancer weekend is the next big event on the hoops calendar coming up the weekend of Jan. 27.
