Lady Raiders win two matches

The Lady Raiders beat Susquehanna 3-1 Thursday and swept the Lady Eagles 3-0 in their match at Blue Ridge on Sept. 17.

Samantha Fraley had six kills and a block while Katherine Kempa had 10 assists, three aces, 11 digs and eight points to lead the Lady Raiders.

Blue Ridge took the first set 25-16 but Susquehanna came back to take the second, 25-20. The Lady Raiders took the next two matches to win the match however, 26-24 and 25-15.

Blue Ridge faced its closest match in set one but won 25-21. The Lady Raiders kept the momentum on their side and took the next two sets 25-14 and 25-15 for the win.

Katherine Kempa had eight points, 14 assists and 12 digs, and Kristine Carlsen had 19 digs to lead Blue Ridge.

Samantha Allen also had 14 points while Chloe Randall had five kills, seven digs and eight points for the Lady Raiders, who improved to 3-3.

MT. VIEW

The Lady Meteors lost its matches to Dunmore and Blue Ridge 3-0 on Thursday and Wednesday to drop to 3-4 overall.

The Bucks remained undefeated after winning 25-9, 25-8 and 25-5.

Sam Krisa had one ace, one kill, three assists seven digs and two points, Dempsey Hollenback had two kills, three assists and one dig, Christine Zeck had two kills and Lauren Schmidt had four points, one block and one dig in the loss.

Morgan White had eight points and Rebekah Tiffany had eight kills, five assists and five digs for the Lady Eagles against the Lady Raiders.

SUSQUEHANNA

The Lady Sabers lost to Blue Ridge 3-1 Thursday and Western Wayne 3-1 in its match on Sept. 17.

The Lady Sabers fell behind in the match after losing the first set to Blue Ridge 25-16. After taking the second set 25-20, Susquehanna dropped the next two 26-24 and 25-15.

Ana Smith had five aces, 11 kills and five digs, Sarah Serfilippi had nine kills and five blocks and Nicole Barnes added two aces, 18 assists and four digs for the Lady Sabers.

Against Western Wayne, Susquehanna fell behind early and dropped the first two sets 16-25 and 23-25 before taking the third set 25-23. The Lady Wildcats rebounded and won the last set 25-18 to take the home win.

Serfilippi had nine blocks for Susquehanna.

ELK LAKE

The Elk Lake volleyball team lost a close 3-2 match at Montrose Wednesday before being swept at home by Forest City 3-0 Friday.

The losses drop the Lady Warriors to 0-8 on the season.

Kelsey Caines had five kills, one ace and one block, while Mikaela Parrett added six kills, two aces and one block against the Lady Foresters.

Caines had 12 kills, three aces and a block, Parrett had five kills and Paige Parrett had three kills for Elk Lake against the Lady Meteors.

FOREST CITY

The Lady Foresters lost their match 3-0 to Lackawanna Trail Wednesday but earned their first win the season in a 3-0 win over Elk Lake Friday.

Samantha Kuriger had 10 points, three digs and assists and two kills while Zoe Zazzera had 11 points, 10 digs, two kills and one assist to lead Forest City against the Lady Lions.

Against the Lady Warriors, Kuriger had three aces. Six service points, 13 digs, four assists and nine kills, while Emily Statkun had two aces, six service points, 11 digs, three assists and three blocks, and Zazzera added four aces, six service points, eight digs, six assists and seven kills..

The Lady Foresters took the three sets 25-22, 25-20 and 25-17 and are now 1-7 on the year.

MONTROSE

The Montrose Area girls’ volleyball team battled to a 3-2 win over Elk Lake at home Wednesday.

The Lady Meteors dropped their first set 16-25 before taking the next two 25-20. Elk Lake fought back with another 16-25 win, but Montrose took the fifth set 21-19 to secure the win.

Kirsten Dibble had 12 kills, four aces and 13 digs and Lacy Nealy had five kills, seven aces, five digs and 22 assists to lead Montrose.

Brianna Thompson also had eight kills, two aces and two blocks for the Lady Meteors, who improved to 2-5 overall.
