The Student Athlete of the Week is Susquehanna Senior and Cross Country runner, Ivy Christensen. She has been running cross country for six years. She says, “I started running because I wanted to try something new and now it is something I love. I like running because it is relaxing for me. I find it to be a way for me to vent and block out stress.” She is working towards improving each day and reaching her goals.

She has also been on the track team for six years and snowboards with the Ski Club. Aside from athletics, she is also involved in several other extracurricular activities that demonstrate leadership skills and varied interest including yearbook and art club. She is the Class President and is a Committee Chair in the Student Council and participates on the NEIU Reading Competition Team. She is in the National Honor Society and is ranked second in her class at Susquehanna Community High School.

Her hobbies outside of school are reading, drawing, and of course, running. “One of my favorite things to do is think. I love to contemplate interesting ideas and concepts and discuss them with anyone who is willing to contemplate as well.” Christensen says.

After graduation she plans to attend college to study architecture. She lives in Thompson and is the daughter of Rachael Odell.
