No salary increase for elected officials

The sheriff and prothonotary/clerk of courts will see no salary increase as the elected officials are sworn into office in January 2018.
In a special meeting held Monday, Dec. 12, the commissioners held the salaries for the elected positions at the current level, with a requirement to pay 25 percent of the health insurance premium for the years, 2018-2021.
Races for both the sheriff and prothonotary/clerk of court will appear on the ballot in 2017.
The commissioners also set the county rate for local tax collectors for 2018-2021 at $4 bill, collected or uncollected.
