Pennsylvania State Police, Gibson barracks, are investigating an alleged sexual assault that reportedly occurred at the Montrose Area High School.
According to police, the investigation was initiated Wednesday, May 19, after a 14-year-old female alleged she had been sexually assaulted by a 13-year-old male on the school grounds in Bridgewater Twp.
The investigation by Tpr. Roger Riddell is continuing.
The 13-year-old male suspect was taken into custody Friday, April 21, by Pennsylvania State Police at his residence. He was turned over to the Susquehanna County Juvenile Probation Department to await court proceeding for sexual assault and related charges.
The Susquehanna County Independent does not identify the victims of alleged sexual assaults.
In a news report that aired Thursday on WBRE, a local station, parents of the victim said their daughter told them about incidents that happened during unsupervised time following an afterschool sports practice and also in a classroom at the high school,
Montrose Area Superintendent Carol Boyce said, “The District is committed to the health and safety of all of our students. We will continue to cooperate in every way with the on-going investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police and will also continue to review all of our internal procedures.”
