Basketball playoffs begin

Postseason basketball action for local boys and girls’ teams began last night.

In Girls 2A fourth-seeded Mountain View faced fifth-seeded Elk Lake at Tunkhannock Area High School in a single game 7 p.m. start.

Blue Ridge traveled to Carbondale to take on second seeded Holy Cross.

Susquehanna awaits Salem Christian in the District II/District 11 Subregional on February 24th at time and place to be determined.

The Lady Sabers will also meet Forest City for the Class A District II title on Feb. 28 at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Boys’ basketball playoff action is scheduled for tonight with a double header at Tunkhannock Area High School when fourth-seeded Mountain View faces fifth-seeded Lackawanna Trail.

That game is followed by a match up of sixth-seeded Elk Lake and Susquehanna, the third seed. In other action Blue Ridge takes on top-seeded Holy Cross at Dunmore High School at 7:30 p.m.

Both the girls and boys’ teams from Montrose opted out of the District II playoffs.
