Independent staff earns 3 Keystone Press Awards

The Susquehanna County Independent has been awarded three 2019 Professional Keystone Press Awards in Division VII, for weekly publications. Divisions are based on a newspaper’s circulation.

The Independent’s editor, Staci Wilson, was received a first place award in the category of front page design. She also received a second place award in the news photo category.

Staff writer Corey Gesford is the recipient of a second place award in the sports story category.

The Keystone Press Awards reinforce excellence by individuals in the news media profession, by recognizing journalism that consistently provides relevance, integrity, and initiative in serving readers, and faithfully fulfills it’s First Amendment rights/responsibilities.

Further, the Keystone Press Awards stimulate journalists to improve their craft and ultimately improve their community.

Award recipients will be honored at a banquet held during the Pennsylvania Press Conference in Harrisburg on Saturday, May 18.
