Little League district tourney underway

After Tunkhannock’s run to the Little League Softball World Series a year ago, area youngsters can’t help but entertain the dreams of reaching Williamsport and Portland.

With the conclusion of area Little League regular season action select players from the leagues were gathered to form teams to compete in the Little League District 15 tournament that got underway this past weekend.

Majors Softball

Susquehanna County began will enter pool play against teams from Elkland, Troy, Tunkhannock, and Wellsboro.

Team members include Madison Alden, Violet Conning, Madilyn Ely, Marissa Horn, Allison Jennings, Mckenna Kublo, Ally Legg, Matisyn Lord, Jordan Mackiewicz, Chloe Smith, Jocelyn Traver, Brynn Warriner, and Savanna Woodruff.

The squad is managed by Jason Legg, and assisted by Dylan Traver and Giles Woodruff.

Majors Baseball

The Susquehanna County team is comprised of players from Auburn, Choconut, Springville and Rush, and the Susquehanna Area team includes players from the Susquehanna and Blue Ridge leagues will compete along with Tunkhannock in pool play. The pool winner will advance further in District play and the other two teams will enter the consolation rounds.

The Susquehanna Area team, managed by Paul Rooney, will feature team members: Landon Bishop, Matthew Callender, Brandon Carpenetti, Bryce Conklin, Gehrig Dibble, Drew Hennessey, Andrew Kowalewski, William Marcy, Brendan Marvin, Nate Oropallo, Travis Rooney, and Parker Valenti.

Rooney is assisted by Billy Marvin, Derek Dibble, Sean Hennessey, and Aaron Callender.

Susquehanna County is represented by Logan Ayotte, Alden Felker, Conner Flynn, Hunter Hunsinger, Brayden McMicken, Brayden Miller, Cohen Orlandini, Chase Pond, Cash Sherman, Dawson Sherman, and Caden Simmers.

The team is managed by Reuben Sherman and he is assisted by Jamie Orlandini.

Minors Baseball 10-11

Endless Mountains and Montrose Little Leagues paired to enter a team in the Minors 10-11 division. They will compete in pool play versus Athens, Elkland, Sullivan County, and Tunkhannock.

The team is comprised of: Hudson Bain, Robbie Barrett, Nicholas Beach, Connor Boylan, Kasey Carey, Mark Hawk, Jordan Jagger, Josh Miller, Blake Norton, Dan Powell, Andrew Ransom, Adam Sorenson, and Jeremiah Tweed.

Dave Jagger will manage the team, assisted by Darin Bain and Jeff Miller.

Minors Baseball 9-10

Similar to the Majors Division Susquehanna Area and Susquehanna County will compete with Tunkhannock in pool play.

Susquehanna Area team members include: Chad Benson, Tyler Bianchi, Joel Decker, Griffin Fisk, Thomas Fremberg, Mason Keyes, Spencer Ott, Travis Rutter, Dustin Shaw, Jackson Treadway, Trevor White, and Weston Yannone.

The team is managed by Jeff Decker who will be assisted by Chad Benson, Kim Keyes, Aaron Treadway, and Phil Yannone.

Susquehanna County is managed by Steve Groover who is assisted by Damien Kildare. Team members are: Chase Bonavita, Logan Boyle, Stephen Dixon, Nolan Hollister, River Hoover, Keaton Kildare, Maximus Kuwaye, Evan McComb, Cooper Peck, Ethan Smith and Conner Stephens.

Minors Baseball 7-8

Susquehanna Area will have team of seven and eight-year old players competing in a tournament in Athens.

Team member include: Jagger Benson, Carson Conklin, Jack DeWitt, Jack Fabrizi, Ben Fisk, Hunter Hobart, Joey Oropallo, Matthew Skiba, Jax Thomas, and Thatcher Thomas.

Craig Hubal will manage the team assisted by Nick DeWitt.
