Montrose stands out amidst large field at McQuaid

Montrose Cross Country teams again found success on the road as the squad traveled to Rochester, New York to compete in the McQuaid Invitational.

The Lady Meteor varsity team captured the team title in the Girls Unseeded Varsity A-2 race finishing ahead of 28 other teams. 

Montrose placed four girls in the top 30 of the 244-runner field led by senior Hannah Perkins’ 12th place finish.  Perkins came across the finish line in 19:41 and was followed by teammate Paige Brewer who finished 13th in a time of 20:05.

Stephanie Summerville finished 23rd in 20:53 and Elizabeth Chidester cross in 21:05 to place 30th while Annika Bixby was 53rd with a time of 21:50 to total 102 points for Montrose.

Kelley Warner (127) and Maggie Nebzydoski (190) also competed for Montrose as all Lady Meteor runners placed in the top 200.

On the Boys side Nick Coy ran a 17:03 to finish 33rd in the field of 165 runners in the Boys Seeded Varsity A race.

The Meteors finished 11th out of 21 teams and placed seven runners in the top 100 as Sam Stashko crossed ten places after Coy in 17:20 and Gabriel Wilber finished 60th in a time of 17:40. James Bixby (77th/18:03) and George Thompson (86th/18:24) rounded out the scoring for Montrose.

Nick Harder (94th) and Jon Lyden (100th) also ran for the Meteors.

At the Junior High competition Nate Sinkovich finished fourth out of 393 runners in the boy’s race while Daegan Giannone was eighth out of 314 competitors in the girls’ division.
