Montrose Boro plans summer roadwork

Montrose Borough Council approved street projects for the summer construction season at the Monday, April 4, meeting.

Micro-surfacing will be completed on Berry St., from Spruce to SR 706; Cruser St, from Lake Ave., to Conference Rd.; Conference Rd., from Cruser to Lake Ave.; Griffis Hill, from Prospect to Griffis streets; Griffis St.; Maple St., from Public Ave. to Spruce St.; Maple Street parking; Mitchell Hill; Pickett St.; Prospect St., from Lake Ave. to Chenango St.; Spruce St., from Chenango to Church St.; and Torrey St., from Lake Ave. to Cruser St.

True & Level roadwork – a superpave, asphalt mixture – is planned for Griffis St.; and Prospect St., from Chenango St. to Rt. 167.

The borough will be advertising for bids for the proposed roadwork.

Council discussed plans for the pocket park, located at the corner of Church St. and Public Ave., including a retaining wall and appropriate and aesthetic fencing to replace the existing chain link.

Holbrook Landscaping received approval for work on the baseball field at Memorial Park; and the borough will be advertising for mowing bids for the park. The council accepted, with regret, the resignation of Bush-Lunger, the business that was providing mowing the service.

Montrose Mayor Tom LaMont proclaimed April as Safe Digging Month in the borough, cautioning residents to dial 8-1-1 or call 1-800-242-1776 before any digging project.

The July 4 parade in Montrose was also given the council’s official approval on Monday night.

Montrose Borough Council will hold a mid-month meeting, on Monday, April 18, at 8 p.m.
