Fire destroys Bridgewater residence

A family pet perished in a blaze that destroyed a house trailer in Shady Lane Park, Bridgewater Twp., on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

No one was home at the time of the late morning fire.

The home was a total loss. The Susquehanna County Chapter of the American Red Cross was called in to assist the family of four.

Caseworker Tami Courtright said Red Cross provided the family with food, clothing, monetary and emotional support.

Susquehanna County CareNet and Interfaith provided the family with baby products for one of the children displaced by the fire.

The family is staying with relatives.

United Fire Company, Montrose, responded to the blaze, assisted by Springville and Elk Lake fire departments, and remained on the scene for about four hours.
