Rape charges lodged against an Apolacon Twp. man were bound over for trial after a preliminary hearing in Montrose District Court on Monday, Dec. 6.
Robert Patrick Murphy, 50, is charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in his home on November 25.
Tpr. Greg Deck charged Murphy with four felony counts. In addition to the rape charge, Murphy also faces charges of indecent sexually assault, aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault.
According to the affidavit, Murphy rubbed lotion over the victims body prior to sexually assaulting her.
The victim said that after the alleged assault Murphy asked her if he was going to speak to him the next day.
At first Murphy told he remembered putting lotion on the girl but did not remember anything else because he said he had been drinking that day.
In a written statement to police on Nov. 28, Murphy wrote, “What I did was very wrong and it really bothers me.”
Murphy was arraigned in front of District Judge Peter Janicelli on Nov. 28 and released on non-monetary bail.
