Kazmierski gets 1,000th rebound

While Forest City may have taken the 51-30 win over Mountain View on Thursday, it was still a special night for Mountain View senior Kayla Kazmierski.

With 45 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Kazmierski recorded the 1,000th rebound of her career. She finished with 13 rebounds and 11 points for the Lady Eagles.

Kiersten Collins and Carly Erdmann scored 13 points each to lead Forest City in the win over Mountain View on Thursday.

Cassie Erdmann added 12 points.

Forest City wrapped up the second-half title with a win Monday over Blue Ridge, forcing a playoff with the first-half winner Montrose for the division championship.

That game will take place on Thursday night at 6 p.m. at Carbondale.

Olivia Zick added eight for Mountain View while Carly Erdmann chipped in 12 for Forest City.

Montrose

The Montrose girls’ basketball team picked up a 50-20 victory over Susquehanna at home on Thursday evening.

The Lady Meteors shot out to a 12-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

By halftime the Meteors led the Sabers 24-6 and then paced Susquehanna 18-9 in the third and 8-5 in the fourth to take the win.

Sara Krupinski and Sam Abbott each contributed 10 points for Montrose while Mimi DiPhillips led the Meteors with 12 points.

Mashawna Hargett paced Susquehanna with 13 points while Sara Serfillippi added four points and Emily Carmody had two points.

Elk Lake

Elk Lake’s Lady Warriors were handed a 42-25 loss from Lakeland’s Chiefs on the road on Thursday.

The Warriors fell behind 9-8 after the first quarter, and Lakeland paced Elk Lake 15-8 in the second quarter to leave the Warriors at a 23-17 deficit at the half.

After the break, Lakeland led the Warriors 12-4 in the third and capped off the win with a 7-4 run over Elk Lake in the fourth.

Katie Mitchell paced Elk Lake with 14 points while Megan Bush chipped in five and Mazie Tyler had three points.

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge Lady Raiders faced a 55-36 loss from Lackawanna Trail’s Lions at home on Thursday evening.

The Raiders fell behind in the first half being outscored 17-7 in the first and 15-10 in the second to trail 32-17 at the half.

After outscoring the Lions 10-8 in the third, the Lions answered back to cap off the win with a 15-9 run in the fourth.

Kristen Brown scored 18 points for Blue Ridge while Jessica Jhingoor dropped in eight and Ashley Warren had four points.
