Forest City

Forest City’s girls’ basketball team took a 71-37 victory over Western Wayne in the consolation game of the Honesdale Jaycees tournament after it was handed a 64-53 loss from Honesdale in the first round on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Forest City grabbed an early lead going 21-5 over the Wildcats in the first and 17-7 in the second to lead 38-12 at halftime.

After the break, Western Wayne led the way, going 19-12 over the Foresters, before Forest City outscored the Wildcats 21-6 in the final minutes.

Forest City was led by Katie Yale with 18 points wh9ile Cassie Erdmann dropped in 16 points and Early Erdmann added 14.

Against Honesdale, the Foresters started off ahead as they led the Hornets 18-17 in the first quarter, however, Honesdale got the lead back with a 20-13 run in the second to give them a 37-31 lead at the half.

After the break, Honesdale continued to lead the way, outscoring Forest City 14-9 in the third before taking the win as both teams scored 13 in the fourth.

Carly Erdmann led Forest City with 14 points while Yale dropped in 12 and Kiersten Collins had 11.

Mountain View

The Mountain View girls’ basketball team took a 58-45 victory over Northeast Bradford in the consolation game of the Wyalusing Tournament to take third place on Wednesday.

Mountain View fell behind early with the Rangers outscoring them 21-14 in the first. However, a big second quarter saw the Lady Eagles outscore Northeast Bradford 21-3 to lead 35-24 at the half.

In the third quarter, Mountain View paced the Rangers 12-10 before each team scored 11 in the fourth and the Eagles took the win.

Mountain View was led by Kayla Kazmierski with 20 points and 22 rebounds, while Alex Lynn added 17 points and Olivia Zick dropped in eight.
