Lady Meteors open with wins

mon-girls-soccerThe Lady Meteors shut out Western Wayne in the season opener for the girls’ soccer team on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Madison Gilhool scored all four goals for Montrose – three unassisted and one with an assist from Analise Ely. Gilhool was named to the all-state team last year as a freshman.

Goalis Katie Puterbaugh, also a second year starter, had seven saves to shut out  the Wildcats.

The Elk Lake girls picked up a 6-1 win over Mid Valley.

Tiffany Toth scored two for the Lady Warriors. Toth’s goals came early in the first period, scoring at the 8:20 mark, then less than three minutes later at 11:11.

Amanda Mowry added a goal and an assist; and Lydia Hunsinger, Gresyn Bushnell and Katie Cusatis each scored for Elk Lake.

Goalie Lucy Ives had four saves.

Mountain View’s Lady Eagles also opened their season with a 2-1 win over Holy Cross.

Talia Stockdale scored both goals for Mountain View in the first half of the game.

Sydney Newhart had 10 saves at the goal.

On Monday, Montrose shut out Mountain View, 5-0.

Annalise Ely had two goals and an assist to lead the Lady Meteors.

Brianna Spence had a goal and two assists for the winners; and Madison Gilhool scored one.

At Carbondale, Grasyn Bushnell and Tiffany Toth scored first-half goals to lift Elk Lake to a 3-1 Division IV win.

Forest City 7, Mid Valley 2

At Forest City, MacKenzie Hartman scored five goals to lead the Lady Foresters, 7-2, over Mid Valley.

On Friday, Montrose scored a 16-1 win over Mid Valley.

The Lady Meteors sit on top of Division 3 with a 3-0 record.
