Blue Ridge’s Axel Mejia was officially named to the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association all-state boys team.
Mejia, a junior, was voted as a first-team all-star and named the division’s Most Valuable Player by the Lackawanna League coaches and chosen to the Times-Tribune All-Region teams.
Mejia led a potent Raiders offense with 25 goals and six assists in their run to the Division III championship and the top seed in the District 2 Class 2A tournament.
“I always had a goal to try and be all-state,” Mejia said. “It’s special, too, because of the season that we had as a team. My teammates helped me get to this point because we all worked together. It means so much to me.”
