Flames swept through Original Italian Pizza on South Main St., Montrose, on Saturday night, destroying the local eatery.
According to reports, the fire broke out just before 11 p.m., as temperatures outside dived well below zero. The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
United Fire Company first responders were met with heavy smoke as flames broke out along the ridge, in the three alarm blaze, according to an update on the company’s Facebook page, with a large amount of fire on the third floor of the old building.
The restaurant, which opened 22 years ago, operated on the first floor of the building, with apartments in the upper level.
According to reports, owners are looking to open a temporary restaurant on Grow Avenue within the next six weeks, and plan to rebuild the South Main Street restaurant.
