Summer cruises in with 3rd Friday

Summer came cruising into Montrose – complete with sunshine and warm temps – Friday evening with classic cars, food trucks, vendors, music and downtown shops open extended hours for the 3rd Friday event on June 21.

The classic cars lined the west side of Public Avenue with crowds stopping by to appreciate the vehicles. Three prizes were awarded for the entries. Patti Jo Caterson’s car earned the People’s Choice nod; while Chris Sutton’s red Camaro was the Kids’ Choice winner; and Jerry Quick’s green Rambler was the Judge’s Choice winner.

While the cars proved to be the big draw of the night, other activities filled the town. The Self Discovery Wellness Arts Center hosted a Solstice Celebration. Art exhibits were on view at the Butternut Gallery; Slanted Art Co-Op & Gallery; and the Hill Country Artists show at the Independent office.

It was also a full night of fun for kids with pony rides with the Owl’s Nest Riding Center; STEM activities hosted by the Library at the Susquehanna County Historical Society; and art projects and games at venues throughout the town.

The Susquehanna County Dairy Princess and Promotions team served up ice cream courtesy of the Rosemont Inn; and, for the adults, wine and beer tastings were on tap at Slanted Art and Levene, Gouldin and Thompson.

The monthly event is an event coordinated by the Montrose Merchants, as part of the Montrose Area Chamber of Commerce.

Plans are now underway for the next 3rd Friday in Montrose event, slated for Friday, July 19, 5-8 p.m. For more information, find Third Fridays in Montrose on Facebook.
