Elk Lake

Elk Lake’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams swept a meet on Tuesday at Blue Ridge to remain unbeaten on the year.

Elk Lake’s boys took four wins as they defeated Western Wayne, Carbondale, Forest City and Honesdale 15-50, while the girls’ team took a 15-50 win over Western Wayne and a 25-33 victory over Honesdale.

The boys’ team was led by Mike Bedell, who took first place overall at 15:57 while Maria Trowbridge topped for the girls taking second overall at 18:39.

Other finishes on the boys’ side included Luke Jones in second place at 15:57, Jeff Horvath in fourth at 16:19, Will Bennett in fifth at 16:30, Sean Carney in sixth at 16:41 and Bryan Grosvenor in eighth at 17:12.

On the girls’ side, finishing behind Trowbridge was Elizabeth Trowbridge in fourth at 19:03, Kirsten Hollister in seventh at 19:32, Emily Williams in ninth at 19:52, Abby Zdancewicz in 10th at 19:53, Lainey Bedell in 11th at 19:58 and Cassy Salsman in 13th at 20:40.

In junior high action, the girls’ team was led by a first place finish from Jenny VanEtten at 11:20 while the team took a 20-35 win over Western Wayne and a 15-50 win over Forest City.

The boys’ junior high team was led by a first place finish from Hunter Bedell at 11:11 as the team took 15-50 wins over Western Wayne and Forest City while falling 20-35 to Honesdale.

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge boys’ cross country team took four wins at a home meet held on Tuesday while the Raider girls faced a pair of losses.

Blue Ridge’s boys defeated Western Wayne 15-50, Carbondale 18-43, Forest City 15-48 and Honesdale 20-35 while the girls’ team lost 15-50 to both Western Wayne and Honesdale.

Leading the boys’ team was Jake Hinkley, who finished third overall at 16:04.

Also finishing for the Raiders was Mike Robbs in ninth place at 17:13, Ethan Mansfield in 11th place at 17:23 and Chris Carlson in 15th at 17:48.

On the girls’ side, the Raiders were led by Allison Hall, who finished in fifth place at 19:17.

In junior high action, the Raider boys took 15-50 losses from Honesdale, Western Wayne and Forest City while the girls’ team lost 23-37 to Honesdale, 24-31 to Western Wayne and took a 15-50 win over Forest City.

Montrose

The Montrose boys’ cross country team took three wins and a loss from Blue Ridge on Tuesday while the girls’ team faced two losses.

Montrose’s boys’ team defeated Western Wayne 15-50, Carbondale 22-39 and Forest City 15-45 while losing 23-37 to Honesdale. The girls’ team lost 19-42 to Honesdale and 28-29 to Western Wayne.

Leading the pack for the Meteor boys was Ryan Martin in seventh place at 17:06 and Bryce Carlton in 14th place at 17:49.

The Montrose girls’ team was topped by Samantha Bennici, who took third place overall at 19:02 while Allison Lewis finished in 14th at 20:46.

In junior high action, Montrose’s boys beat Forest City and Western Wayne 15-50 while falling 15-41 to Honesdale.

The junior high girls beat Honesdale, Forest City and Western Wayne all 15-50.

Mountain View

Mountain View’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams were each handed three losses at a meet held at Lakeland on Tuesday.

The Eagle boys’ team lost 19-41 to Scranton, 21-38 to West Scranton at 15-48 to Mid Valley, while the girls’ team faced 15-50 losses to Mid Valley, Scranton and West Scranton.

Leading the boys’ team was Ridge Bernosky who finished in 13th at 19:43.

On the girls’ side, Kelly Purdy led the Eagles finishing in fourth at 23:10.

In junior high action, Mountain View’s boys lost 15-50 to Mid Valley, West Scranton and Scranton while the girls’ team also took 15-50 losses from the same three teams.

Susquehanna

Susquehanna’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams all took three losses in a meet held at Lakeland on Tuesday.

Susquehanna’s boys’ and girls’ teams each faced 15-50 losses to Scranton, West Scranton and Mid Valley at the meet.

However, in junior high action, Susquehanna’s girls beat Mid Valley 25-30, Scranton 19-40 and West Scranton 24-31 and the boys’ team beat West Scranton 27-29, Scranton 21-44 while falling 26-31 to Mid Valley.

Forest City

Forest City’s boys’ cross country team faced losses at a meet held at Blue Ridge on Tuesday.

The team lost 15-50 to Elk Lake, 15-48 to Blue Ridge and 18-45 to Montrose.

In junior high action, Forest City’s boys beat Blue Ridge 15-50, and lost to Elk Lake and Montrose 15-50, while the junior high girls lost 1-50 to Elk Lake, Montrose and Blue Ridge.
